Ambassador Pastor Bill Francis Bill, Official Undisputed and Undiluted Spokesman to His Excellency, Sen. Dr. Apostle Governor Prince Bassey Edet Otu, has announced that the Cross River State Government has provided financial assistance to families who lost their loved ones during the recent flood and landslide disasters in Calabar. Speaking at the Government House, Calabar, Pastor Bill Francis Bill stated that the intervention reflects the compassionate disposition of the People First administration and underscores Governor Otu's unwavering commitment to standing with citizens during moments of grief and hardship. He emphasized that while no financial support can replace the lives that were lost, the gesture serves as a demonstration of the Government's solidarity with the bereaved families.
The Governor's Official Spokesman disclosed that the financial assistance was presented on behalf of His Excellency by the Special Adviser to the Governor on General Duties, Barr. Ekpenyong Akiba, in collaboration with the Director General of the Cross River State Emergency Management Agency (CR-SEMA), Hon. Efa Nyong. He noted that the beneficiaries included Mr. Kingsley Etim, who lost his four children in the Ikot Anwatim landslide, Miss Sunday Jennifer, whose father died while attempting to rescue the children, and Mrs. Chinonso Dominic, who lost her one-month-old baby during the devastating flood at Elijah Henshaw Street, Calabar. Pastor Bill Francis Bill further reaffirmed Governor Otu's commitment to strengthening disaster preparedness, emergency response, and other proactive measures aimed at protecting lives and property across the state.
Also present at the event were officials of the Cross River State Emergency Management Agency (CR-SEMA), representatives of humanitarian partners, including the Nigerian Red Cross and Humanity Without Borders Empowerment Initiative, as well as government officials and other stakeholders. Pastor Bill Francis Bill commended all those involved in supporting the affected families and reassured Cross Riverians that the administration of His Excellency, Sen. Dr. Apostle Governor Prince Bassey Edet Otu, will continue to provide timely humanitarian interventions, compassionate leadership, and people-centered governance across Cross River State.
