Gov Otu Appoints Weightlifting Champion, Ironbar, into Cross River State Sports Commission, As Technical Adviser.
The appointment letter dated 1st October 2023 was presented to the Speaker Of The Cross River State House Of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Elvert Ayambem, by the Commissioner for Sports by Hon. Agnes Atsu.
Mr. Bassey Ironbar, who was earlier scouted by the Cross River State Government while in the streets of Lagos and was brought home by the CRSHA Speaker until his recent appointment, has been under the care of the Cross River State Government.
Confirming and presenting the letter to Ironbar, the CRSHA speaker, Rt. Hon. Elvert Ayambem, appreciated the Governor, for keeping to his words after promising to secure a befitting appointment for the weightlifting champion. He added that the appointment will enhance the light of the Governor's magnanimity, which has continually reflected on his devotion to the People's First Mantra.
Conclusively, the Cross River State Commissioner For Sports, Hon. Agnes Atsu, also announced Ironbar as Chief Coach of the CRS Weightlifting Team.
The appointment comes shortly after a two million(2M) medical funding by the Governor to stabilize and return Ironbar's fitness after receiving him at the Governor's office.
Responding, Mr. Ironbar appreciated the Governor and pledged to serve the commission as well as the state through maximum contribution of his wealth of knowledge and experiences in the sports sector.
