*HER EXCELLENCY, REV. MRS. EYOANWAN OTU, THE WIFE OF GOV. PRINCE OTU, SET TO ADORE CALABAR CORRECTIONAL CENTRE WITH MODERN FACILITIES..*

The wife of the Governor of Cross River State, Rev. Mrs. Eyoanwan Itam Bassey Otu, has undertaken a project to renovate major facilities in the Calabar Correctional Centre. As part of this initiative, she has set up a standard sick bay, an administrative block, a baptismal fount site, and an externally constructed Kitchen that meets the Custodial Centre standards and requirements.

The renovation of major facilities at the Calabar Correctional Centre is aimed at improving the living conditions of the inmates and providing better facilities for  rehabilitation and wellbeing throughout their prescribed period of corrections.

The sick bay is equipped with modern medical equipment and staffed by a qualified medical personnel with view of deploying other medical professionals  to ensure that the inmates receives proper healthcare services throughout their stay at the custodial centre.

The administrative block which is billed to serve as a hub for the daily operations of the correctional centre, will house offices for the staff, meeting rooms, and other necessary facilities to facilitate smooth administrative processes.

In addition, the establishment of a baptismal fount site within the correctional centre is a significant step towards providing spiritual support for the inmates. This will allow them to practice their faith and receive religious guidance as they go through the process of rehabilitation.

Lastly, the improvement of the kitchen facilities is aimed at ensuring that the inmates receive nutritious meals. An external Kitchen that meets the prison's standard will enable the preparation of balanced diets for the inmates, which is crucial for their overall well-being and rehabilitation.

The efforts of Rev.Mrs Eyoanwan Itam Bassey Otu "The Humanity First" Advocate in renovating the Calabar Correctional Centre and setting up these essential facilities demonstrates her commitment to the welfare of officers and inmates of the NCS as it resonates with "The People First" mantra of His Excellency Sen.Prince Bassey Edet Otu.
