The Honourable Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Dr. Helen Isamoh has sent a message honouring the children of Cross River State on this Children's Day, 27th May 2024.
While speaking today, she said that Children's Day is a day that has been set aside to celebrate children nationwide. She reminded everyone that children are worth celebrating because they are blessings from God.
In wishing all the children in Cross River State and Nigeria at large a Happy Children's Day, she advised parents to invest in their children's academic pursuit for our children are the leaders of tomorrow.
The Honourable Commissioner noted that Education is the bedrock of every nation, and that a nation that fails to invest in its children academically will have a bleak future. She stressed that it is important and very pertinent to train our children to be Intellectually sound in their areas of educational interests because they will lead and control the resources of the nation tomorrow. Dr Helen Isamoh added that, the degree of development of any country depends on the level of education its children have been exposed to.
The Honourable commissioner advised the children to be dedicated to their studies and always take their schooling seriously. She said they must shun cultism, immoral tendencies, and all negative social involvements that would distract them from a focused engagement with their academic success.
Dr. Helen Isamoh encouraged children to always invite God into their lives in whatever they do. She advised the children to obey their parents because the scripture promises them a long life on earth as the reward for their obedience.
The Commissioner added that our State Governor, His Excellency Sen Prince Bassey Otu and his dear wife, our First Lady, Mrs. Eyoanwan Bassey Otu live a life worth emulating. She observed that our Sweet Prince is a man of focus and determination, as well as a dynamic leader who joyfully embraces any challenges that come his way. She added that our children will offer our State a vibrant future by emulating the Governor's example of leadership and humility.
