GOVERNANCE IS A GRADUAL PROCESS : FOR THE FIRST SIX MONTHS OF THE BASSEY OTU'S LED ADMINISTRATION I RATE HIM 80% AND I BELIEVE HE WILL NOT DISAPPOINT THE PEOPLE OF CROSS RIVER STATE.

--High Chief Higgins Peters

The Chairman Opal Group of Companies and a noted political opinion moulder in Cross River State, High Chief Higgins Peters, has stated categorically that he rates the Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu’s led administration 80% in his first six months in office, adding that the concept and practical aspects of public administration and governance are continual and gradual processes.

High Chief Higgins Peters made this known during an interactive session on our current affairs programme, Inside Cross River.

He used the ample  opportunity offered by the programme to x-ray the totality of the Governor Bassey Edet Otu’s led administration as it pertains to public opinion, the quality and suitability of the individual appointees and the general direction he is leading the State.

High Chief Higgins reiterated the need for patience on the part of the people of Cross River State and the fervent hope that all the commitments and campaign promises made by the Governor will be fulfilled, adding emphatically that the encouraging signs are there for all to see.

He further noted that Governor Otu's policy thrust and implementation are so obvious for all to see and appreciate, including the blind.

The business mogul and noted entrepreneur also referenced the business and investment climate created by the Otu’s led administration and expressed the hope that the recently held Economic and Investment Summit in Calabar will help in creating the much needed awareness about the conducive and mutually beneficial investment opportunities that abound in Cross River State.

Specifically, High Chief Higgins Peters expressed happiness at the presence of globally recognized financial resources managers who thronged the State recently in search of investment opportunities.

He said that the State stands to benefit from some big financial outlay as exemplified by the Trust Arthur Group that was represented by its Group Managing Director.

He revealed further that such global brands are wholly dependable, inherently trustworthy and their names have been recognized all over the world. He opined that since the Trust Arthur Group manages its finances so well that even States and the Federal Government as well as other African countries borrow and enjoy financial leverage from the Group, there is no doubt that doing business with the Group will be very beneficial to Cross River State in all its ramifications.

He made reference to the Group's ability to administer the financial components of AfDB, Islamic Bank and Sukkuk, which he noted are without blemish.

The High Chief also maintained that he was delighted to play host to such a distinguished group of global financial managers and investors after their interface with the Governor during a courtesy visit in the State.

Chief Higgins Peters again made reference to the way and manner in which the present administration is being run as there are square pegs in square holes simultaneously.

He commended the Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Peter Odey, for leaving no stone unturned in demonstrating his unwavering support for the Senator Bassey Edet Otu’s led administration. He disclosed that the Deputy Governor's itinerary flows directly from the Governor's routine and his busy schedule is reflective of his harmonious working relationship with the Governor.

He assured that the Northern Senatorial Zone will continue to offer their unflinching support and solidarity towards Governor Otu and his administration.

Chief Higgins stated unapologetically that Cross River North is a formidable entity, noting that the North has regrouped politically and they are coming out stronger and more united in the very near future.

He noted also that even in the last March 2023 gubernatorial election in the State, Yala Local Government Area recorded the second highest votes, coming just closely to Calabar South which had a marginal number of votes than Yala Local Government Area.

On the entertainment and leisure aspects of the Cross River State economy, Chief Higgins Peters was delighted that the momentum is building up for the State to once again enact what unarguably, is regarded as Africa's Biggest Street Party, the Calabar Carnival and Festival.

He called on the good people of Cross River State to continuously support the present administration in the State, so that the Season of Sweetness will be spread to everyone in the State.

High Chief Higgins Peters has carved a niche for himself as a respected opinion moulder whose private and public antecedents cannot be underrated. He is a goal getter whose opinion counts and whose image will continue to loom large in the economic, social and political spheres of Cross River State.
