We are saddened by the untimely demise of a dear comrade, friend and brother. Our heartfelt condolences rest with the family whose joy, expectations and light seem bashed by the murder of their son Michael Efenji, who until his death was a 400level Student of the department of political science, faculty of social sciences, University of Calabar, Calabar.
As a Union, we strongly condemn the violent attack and brutal killing of a young, promising youth bubbling in energy to serve his father land in its entirety. The Students’ Union Government remain solid in ensuring the protection of Students interest.
With deep sense of concerns, we are beckoning on the management of the University of Calabar, to take responsibility in the arrangements, and burial of her constituent, who passed away in the early hours of Tuesday, 22/11/023.
In unison, we also call on the School security to extensively liase with external securities, heads of clans, to investigate the unrest in a bid to ensuring the peace and comfort of students of our prestigious institution within the school and at around premises near the school.
While we respectfully, acknowledge the office of the Nigerian police in operation. Our utmost reference goes to the AIG, Zone 6, the Commissioner of police, The DG, DSS and all agencies saddled with security responsibility, we call their attention to the rising need for communal peace and order as robbery and killing of innocent Students is in the surge, where the lifes of the living are kept in perpetual fear.
This call of ours lies with a deep sense of reason, and expressively desires response in due time, least our alternative will be to storm the streets peacefully in bits to ensure our voices are heard, justice is brought, the perpetrators of this crime are made to face the law and resolution profered becomes effective.
