ABI LOCAL GOVERNMENT CHAIRMAN DEBUNKS FALSE DEFECTION CLAIM, REAFFIRMS UNWAVERING LOYALTY TO APC.*

 PRESS STATEMENT

The attention of the Executive Chairman of Abi Local Government Area, Chief Egbala Bassey, has been drawn to a misleading social media post circulated by a social media activist, Waterboard, falsely suggesting that he has defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC). The Chairman categorically describes the claim as false, baseless, and a deliberate attempt to misinform the public.

Chief Egbala Bassey explained that the photograph being circulated was taken during the church burial service of the late mother of Hon. Chuks Agube, who was former Chairman of Abi Local Government Area where he attended to pay his respects as the current Chairman of Abi LGA. During the service, he exchanged pleasantries with several dignitaries and political leaders from different political parties, as is customary at such public and solemn occasions. He emphasized that extending greetings to individuals at a burial ceremony does not amount to political defection or indicate a change in party affiliation.

The Executive Chairman unequivocally reaffirms that he remains a committed and loyal member of the All Progressives Congress (APC). He states that his loyalty to President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu, and the entire APC family in Cross River State remains unwavering, unmatched, and non-negotiable. He urges members of the public to disregard the false narrative and remain focused on facts, assuring the people of Abi Local Government that he remains fully committed to the ideals of the APC and the continued progress of the Greater Abi administration and that of the state under the leadership of Governor Otu.

Chief Egbala also warned the punisher to take it down within 24hours or face legal actions.
