The Deputy Governor of Cross River State, His Excellency Rt. Hon. Peter Odey, represented His Excellency, Governor Prince Bassey Edet Otu, at the burial and vigil ceremony of Late Ukandi, elder brother of the former Governor of Cross River State, His Excellency Senator Prof. Sir Benedict Benjoushuye Akinshuye Ben Ayade Kjsi Con. The solemn occasion brought together prominent political leaders, government officials, dignitaries, family members and well-wishers who gathered to honour the deceased and stand in solidarity with the Ayade family during this difficult period.
Among the distinguished personalities present were Senator Eteng Jones Williams, representing the Cross River Central Senatorial District, Chief of staff Hon Dr Emmanuel Ironba, the Honourable Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris. Also in attendance were Hon. Cyril James Omini, members of the Cross River State House of Assembly yakur 1, Hon Erasmus Ekpang, Hon Peter Egbala and political appointees and other notable leaders and dignitaries who joined the family to pay their respects. Their presence underscored the spirit of unity, compassion and solidarity that continues to define Cross River State, especially during moments of bereavement.
Speaking during an interaction with the media, the Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Peter Odey, conveyed the heartfelt message of Governor Prince Bassey Edet Otu to former Governor Ben Ayade, assuring him that the Governor remains firmly supportive of him and his family throughout this difficult period. He emphasized that Governor Otu’s support transcends politics and reflects genuine brotherhood, humanity and compassion. The Chief of Staff to Governor Otu, Hon. Emmanuel Ironba, also expressed his condolences and reaffirmed his support for the former Governor and the Ayade family, while prayers were offered for the peaceful repose of the deceased and for God to grant the bereaved family the strength and fortitude to bear the loss.
