HON. EDEM PRINCE OTU EVIDENCE GROUP ANNOUNCES ₦20 MILLION STUDENT SCHOLARSHIP, EMPOWERS MARKET WOMEN AS TEAM STORMS OGOJA

Edem Prince Bassey Otu, alongside members of his team, commenced the group’s activities in Ogoja Local Government Area with a courtesy visit to the Executive Chairman, Chief Hon. Chris Agbeh, at the Ogoja Council Secretariat. The visit provided an opportunity for the delegation to engage with the council leadership ahead of the Evidence Invasion Rally – North and strengthen ties with grassroots stakeholders. The team acknowledged the importance of collaboration between community leaders, political stakeholders and youth-focused organisations in advancing development and fostering meaningful participation across Northern Cross River State.
Following the courtesy visit, Hon. Edem Bassey and his team joined Barr. Paul Ishabor, Director-General of Cross River Rediscovered and City Boy Coordinator for Cross River North, to inspect the ongoing Governor’s Lodge project in Ogoja. After observing the project, the delegation commended His Excellency, Apostle Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu, Governor of Cross River State, and his Deputy, His Excellency Rt. Hon. Peter Odey, for their efforts towards infrastructure development in the state. The team subsequently proceeded to the Ogoja Stadium, the venue of the Evidence Invasion Rally – North, where the group engaged with youths, community stakeholders and other participants. A major highlight of the rally was the announcement of a ₦20 million scholarship initiative for students across Cross River State, aimed at supporting educational advancement and providing assistance to students pursuing their academic aspirations.
Beyond the scholarship announcement, the Evidence Campaign Group also empowered market women in Ogoja, recognising their contributions to local commerce, family livelihoods and grassroots economic development. The scholarship initiative and market-women empowerment formed key highlights of the group’s outreach, reflecting the importance of education, economic inclusion and community participation. Through its engagements with the Ogoja council leadership, inspection of the Governor’s Lodge project and activities at the rally ground, the group brought together community relations, infrastructure awareness and empowerment initiatives under one programme. The Evidence Campaign Group’s visit to Ogoja marks part of its wider Northern Cross River State outreach, with further engagements planned across other local government areas.
