Ambassador Pastor Bill Francis Bill, Cross River APC Senior Chieftain and President of All Bloggers Worldwide, has blasted Arthur Jarvis, a governorship aspirant backed by a faction of the PDP in Cross River State, over what he described as reckless statements, careless remarks and alleged falsehoods against His Excellency, Governor Prince Bassey Otu. Speaking during a media interview at Government House, Cross River State, Pastor Bill said Arthur Jarvis’ desperation for power has become excessive and urged him to calm down and allow God to determine who becomes governor. He said Cross River State is too big and too important for one man to go around making careless statements and allegedly spreading falsehoods simply because of political ambition. Pastor Bill particularly referenced a statement allegedly made by Arthur Jarvis concerning the demise of the former Honourable Commissioner for Power, Hon. Dr. Prince Eka Williams, describing it as an unfortunate example of what he considers unnecessary political rhetoric.
Ambassador Bill further alleged that Arthur Jarvis and his camp have resorted to using bloggers, media platforms and self-acclaimed social media activists to blackmail and attack the administration of Governor Prince Bassey Otu. He questioned why someone aspiring to govern Cross River State would devote so much energy to attacking a sitting governor instead of presenting concrete policies, programmes and a clear vision to the people. According to Amb. Bill, political ambition should not become desperation, stressing that power comes from God and that no amount of blackmail, propaganda or media attacks can stop what God has ordained. He therefore advised Arthur Jarvis to calm down, campaign with dignity and allow Cross Riverians to decide who they want to lead them.
Pastor Bill also stated emphatically that everybody must not be Governor. He argued that leadership is not an entitlement and that every politician who desires the governorship must understand that the people, rather than desperation or propaganda, ultimately decide who occupies Government House. He further described the PDP situation in Cross River State as factional and said Arthur Jarvis should not present himself as though the dispute over the authentic PDP ticket has already been settled. Pastor Bill declared that Governor Prince Bassey Otu will win the 2027 governorship election, insisting that no amount of blackmail will stop what he described as the governor’s growing acceptance among Cross Riverians. He said the people can see the work being done by the administration and understand the effort to restore what he described as the lost glory of Cross River State.
Finally, Pastor Bill maintained my that Cross River State has a political tradition in which governors have served two terms, pointing out that Donald Duke served eight years, Senator Liyel Imoke served eight years, and Senator Ben Ayade served eight years, and insisting that Governor Prince Bassey Otu should not be an exception. He said the governor assumed office on May 29, 2023, and has remained focused on infrastructure, development and the welfare of Cross Riverians. “Governor Otu will complete his eight years; let everybody rest,” Pastor Bill declared, adding that the people will ultimately judge the administration by its record. He urged politicians, especially Arthur Jarvis, to reduce what he described as excessive desperation for power and allow Cross Riverians to make their choice in 2027.
