The leadership of the Evidence Support Group, led by its initiator, Mr. Edem Bassey, paid a courtesy visit to the residence of Senator Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe in Calabar, where the delegation engaged the Senator on the group’s vision, activities and plans for deeper grassroots engagement across Cross River State. Speaking during the visit, the Director of Media and Publicity, Mr. Andrea Ekeng, highlighted the group’s commitment to communicating government policies, programmes and documented achievements to the people, particularly young people across
the state. He also acknowledged Senator Jarigbe’s contributions to his constituents and described the Senator as an experienced stakeholder in the sphere of political support and grassroots mobilisation.
The Director-General of the Evidence Support Group, Mr. Eyoma Bassey, explained that the visit was also aimed at formally introducing the group to Senator Jarigbe, informing him about its planned tour of the Northern Senatorial District and seeking his guidance and support as the organisation expands its activities. According to the group, its broader objective is to create stronger communication between political leadership and citizens by bringing information about government programmes and initiatives closer to the grassroots. The delegation subsequently honoured Senator Jarigbe by conferring on him the position of Patron of the Evidence Support Group, further underscoring the group’s intention to build constructive relationships with political stakeholders across Cross River State.
Responding, Senator Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe welcomed the delegation and commended the Evidence Support Group for its initiative and efforts toward strengthening political engagement. He emphasized the importance of cooperation and synergy, stressing that no individual can achieve everything alone, while encouraging the group to remain focused, steadfast and committed to its objectives. He also urged the members to continue supporting others, noting that leadership and service are continuous processes in which those who contribute to the progress of others can also receive support in the future. The meeting ended on a positive note, with both sides discussing stronger engagement among political stakeholders, support groups and young people across Cross River State.
