BY PASTOR BILL FRANCIS BILL

From the Desk of His Excellency, Apostle Governor Prince Bassey Edet Otu, SA to the Governor on Community Communications, Ambassador Pastor Bill Francis Bill, expressed his reaction following the approval by the Cross River State Government for the restoration and reinstatement of 3,000 local government workers earlier removed from the State payroll. The development follows the Governor’s engagement with organised labour, where issues concerning workers’ welfare, employment, promotions, salary harmonisation, pensioners’ entitlements and industrial relations were discussed. Ambassador Pastor Bill Francis Bill described the development as a major step toward addressing the concerns of affected workers and restoring renewed hope to thousands of families across the State.

Ambassador Pastor Bill Francis Bill further noted that the Governor’s decision reflects the administration’s willingness to listen to workers and consider genuine concerns presented through constructive engagement. He said the restoration provides the affected workers with another opportunity to return to service, contribute meaningfully to their communities and support the government’s development agenda. He also acknowledged the importance of due process, proper documentation and ensuring that public service opportunities are administered fairly and responsibly.

The SA to the Governor on Community Communications congratulated the 3,000 affected workers and their families on the development, urging them to reciprocate the opportunity with dedication, discipline and commitment to duty. He said the administration’s continued engagement with labour and other stakeholders remains important in addressing outstanding issues affecting the workforce and strengthening public service delivery across Cross River State.
