The All Progressives Congress (APC), Ward 7, Calabar Municipality, recorded another remarkable political achievement with the official reception of Chief Barr. Felix Asikpo Edet, Esq., and 275 supporters who joined the party from across the three senatorial districts of Cross River State. The new entrants, drawn from the four zones of Ward 7, further strengthened the growing influence and grassroots appeal of the APC within the municipality.
The event attracted prominent stakeholders of the party from across the state, including members of the State Working Committee, chapter executives, state and local government appointees, ward chairmen, serving and former councillors, support groups, and party faithful. Notable dignitaries in attendance included the APC State Secretary, Hon. Pastor Patrick Asikpo Okon; State Welfare Officer, Hon. Emmanuel Bassey; Calabar Municipality APC Chapter Chairman, Mr. Emmanuel Eyo; Mayor of Calabar Municipality, Hon. Apostle James Anam; Pastor Bill Francis Bill, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Community Communications; High Chief Dr. Effiong Nta Eke; Barr. Ekpo Adah; Chief Otu Oko; and Prince Ekpenyong Essien.
In her remarks, the Ward 7 APC Chairman, Mrs. Scholastica Umo, formally received Chief Felix Asikpo Edet and his supporters and expressed delight over the influx of new members into the party. Speaking on behalf of the party leadership, the APC State Secretary, Hon. Pastor Patrick Asikpo Okon, assured the defectors of equal rights and opportunities within the APC family while emphasizing the values of unity, peace, and collective progress. Barr. Ekpo Adah also reaffirmed the commitment of the Cross River State Grassroots Movement to the continued growth and success of the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Responding on behalf of the new members, Chief Felix Asikpo Edet, Esq., expressed gratitude to the Ward 7 leadership and party stakeholders for the warm reception accorded to him and his supporters. He pledged their unwavering loyalty and commitment to the APC and promised to deploy their political experience and grassroots network in advancing the party’s interests. The historic defection further underscores the APC’s growing dominance and increasing acceptance across the political landscape of Cross River State.
